Job summary

Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid is seeking a Laundry Aide for a part-time position to support residents by keeping linens and personal clothing clean, organized, and ready for distribution within the facility.

You will sort, wash, dry, and fold items, label clothing, and help maintain a sanitary laundry area. The role offers gas allowance eligibility, shift differentials, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 yrs age required, HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Position-related experience preferred but not required.
• An interest in the laundry operation necessary.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions required.
• Respect for residents' privacy and rights; respectful and dignified treatment of residents required.
• This position requires reading, writing, and understanding English at an intermediate or higher level.

Responsibilities

• Sorts laundry into categories by type, soiling, fabric and color.
• Labels residents' clothing and retains records of possessions.
• Loads washing machines and selects wash cycles; adds soaps and bleaches.
• Transfers washed linen to dryers and starts machines.
• Sorts dry linen, folds and prepares for delivery within the facility.
• Delivers personal garments to designated areas and residents.
• Keeps laundry area clean; observes infection control measures.
• Stores hazardous substances properly.
• Assists with studies of new products or methods as needed.
• Arrives on time and works as scheduled; maintains transportation.

Laundry Aide Position Overview

Laundry team members help support the health, comfort, and well-being of residents by ensuring facility linens and personal clothing are properly cleaned, organized, and distributed throughout the facility. This role is essential to maintaining a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Consistently demonstrates the Elderwood iCARE Values.
• Sorts soiled linen or clothes into appropriate categories according to type, soiling, fabric and color.
• Labels residents clothing and retains records of personal possessions of each resident.
• Assists in locating missing articles of clothing.
• Loads washing machines, selects wash cycle, adds soaps, detergents, and bleaches.
• Transfers washed linen or clothes into dryers and start machine.
• Sorts dry linen, and folds and prepares for delivery to designated areas within the facility.
• Prepares for delivery, and distributes personal garments of residents.
• Removes lint and dust from machines, and keeps laundry area clean on a daily basis.
• Practices good infection control measures in the processing of laundry items and in personal habits.
• Handles responsibility for keeping compounds and hazardous substances properly stored.
• Assists with studies of new products or laundry methods when necessary.
• Arrives to work on time, and works as scheduled; responsible for own transportation.
• Observes and practices confidentiality of resident information and privacy when performing job duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff or Administrator.
