Job summary

Ambassador-Nursing- in Chicago is seeking a linen room attendant to support daily hospital laundry operations. You will sort, launder, dry, and deliver linen to hospital units.

Responsibilities

• Sorts soiled linen while following infection control procedures.
• Lifts 30 to 40 lb bags of wet, soiled linen from soiled linen barrels.
• Transports sorted, soiled linen to washer and loads washer 15-20 times per day.
• Operates machines, keeping tabs on cycle and disinfects mouth of washer after loading.
• Transports wet, clean linen from washer and loads into dryer 15-20 times per day.
• Operates machines using proper temperature and follows drying cycle times.
• Retrieves and untangles loads of linen prior to loading into laundry cart.
• Counts and records linen processed each day.
• Lifts bundles of clean linen to a delivery cart 40-50 times per day and delivers to units/rooms.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SOILED LINEN

Sorts soiled linen while following infection control procedures. Sorting requires bending to

retrieve items from floor, etc.

Lifts 30 to 40 lb bags of wet, soiled linen from soiled linen barrels while following infection control

requirements.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

WASHING LINEN

Transports sorted, soiled linen to washer and loads washer a minimum of 15-20 times per day,

while following infection control procedures.

Operates machines, keeping tabs on cycle/stage. Disinfects mouth of washer following the

loading of soiled laundry into machine and prior to shutting machine door.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

DRYING LINEN

Transports wet, clean linen from washer and loads into dryer a minimum of 15 to 20 times per

day, while following safe lifting procedures.

Operates machines, using proper temperature for fabric and following standards set for proper

drying cycle times, etc.

Retrieves and untangles loads of linen prior to loading clean, dry linen into laundry cart.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

CLEAN LINEN

Counts and records linen processed each day.

Folds and bundles clean linens according to standards.

Lifts bundles of clean linen to a delivery cart a minimum of 40 to 50 times per day and

delivers clean linen bundles, as well as personal clothing to units/rooms.
