Job summary

PACS is seeking a Laundry Aide to support the Nursing Department by providing clean linens and handling resident belongings. The role covers bed-making, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing laundry across resident care areas.

Work focuses in the facility laundry area; candidates should follow infection-control procedures and safety guidelines. Prior laundry, housekeeping, healthcare, or nursing home experience is preferred; must be able to stand, lift, and perform repetitive tasks.

Job description

General Purpose

The main purpose of your job position is to support the Nursing Department and staff. This position will perform a variety of support functions.

Essential Duties
  • Responsible for providing clean, sanitary and properly processed linens, clothing, towels and other laundry items for residents and facility staff.
  • Make unoccupied beds.
  • Put extra covers on beds.
  • Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold and distribute resident and facility laundry.
  • Properly identify and separate personal resident clothing and facility linens.
  • Operate commercial washers, dryers, irons and other equipment safely.
  • Fold and organize clean laundry neatly and return items to the appropriate resident rooms or designated areas.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of clean linens.
  • Follow infection-control procedures when handling soiled laundry.
  • Assist with inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification
  • Previous laundry, housekeeping, healthcare or nursing home experience.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull, lift and carry laundry.
  • Ability to lift and move laundry bags.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a faced paced enviroment.
Work Environment

This position works primarily in the facility's laundry area and throughout resident care areas. The employee may be exposed to heat, humidity, cleaning products, dust and soiled or contaminated laundry and must follow all applicable safety and infection control procedures.
