Teach For America recruits graduates and professionals to teach full-time for two years in under-resourced public schools across the United States. Corps members gain hands-on classroom leadership, learn to engage families, and develop skills in communication, problem-solving, and teamwork while earning a salary with benefits.

• Must be a citizen, national, or legal resident of the United States, EAD holder, or have DACA status

Teach For America is a national nonprofit that offers a full-time, paid, two-year teaching opportunity for college seniors, graduate students, and early-career professionals who want high-stakes work, tangible early responsibility, and a first role that will genuinely shape where they go next. Through our two-year teaching corps, we place and support people who teach full-time in under-resourced public schools. You’ll drive student learning, build trust with families, and gain a ground-level understanding of how broader issues like housing, healthcare, and economic mobility shape students’ lives. Corps members build durable skills, earn hands-on, career-building experience, and join a network committed to expanding opportunity.

• Teach For America provides every incoming corps member with a baseline stipend of $3,000–$6,500 to help with living expenses during summer training and essential upfront costs such as rent, transportation, or licensure exams — amount varies by region. An additional automatic $3,000 grant is available for Pell Grant recipients and those from low-income backgrounds who do not receive federal student aid.
• Additional need-based grants and interest-free loans are available by application to all corps members
• AmeriCorps benefits—including federal loan forbearance, interest accrual payments, and education awards—may be available depending on funding and program approval

• After the corps, TFA’s Career Center helps alumni connect their classroom experience to grad school, fellowships, and next-step roles across fields—giving you a structured path forward
