Job summary

Rocket Lab Corporation is seeking a Test & Launch Operations Engineer I in the US, Virginia. You will operate Avionics during test and launch activities, support integration and testing, and lead testing campaigns for avionics systems.

The role focuses on avionics hardware/software, RF, telemetry, and ground segment operations, with opportunities to develop procedures and improve HMIs for operator efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Mechatronic) required.
• 1+ years of experience in engineering design, test and/or operations, electrical/software engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Nice to have: 2+ years in engineering design, test, and/or operations; Avionics equipment design/operations; experience with Avionics Hardware/Software, RF systems, Ground Segment, Telemetry Tracking and Command; experience in real-time hazardous operations with Avionics Systems; experience developing procedures, test plans, or CONOPS documentation.

Responsibilities

• Operate Electron and Neutron Avionics as a launch console operator during tests, rehearsals, and launches.
• Support development, integration, and testing of Avionics systems.
• Lead and execute testing campaigns, including Avionics Integrated Systems testing and readiness checks.
• Manage configuration and verification of Avionics hardware and systems.
• Develop operational procedures, test plans, and emergency response protocols.
• Design and improve HMIs for Avionics systems to enhance operator efficiency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve real-time issues during test and launch operations.
