Job summary

Hunter Douglas in Salt Lake City, UT, is seeking an NPI Lead to manage multidisciplinary teams for new product introductions, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. You will drive process development, standard work, PFMEA reviews, and supply chain coordination to deliver launches on time.

You will collaborate with engineering and R&D, guide the project through LV1/LV2 phases, and ensure proper staffing, budgeting, and industrialization for successful launches.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in projects.
  • 3+ years of experience in process or manufacturing areas.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Leader in the manufacturing industry.
  • Bilingual in English (≈90%).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of a timeline for the implementation of the process and Deliverables/key milestones and ensure on-time and within budget.
  • Coordinate new process development and efficiency during Launch and 30 days post-SOP with the Process Engineer.
  • Support the definition of Direct Labor for new processes in the plant with Engineering Site Lead.
  • Define cycle times for each operation and document for Plant Staff approval prior to SOP.
  • Assist in developing Standard Work for new processes to achieve targeted efficiency.
  • Participate in PFMEA development and reviews during Launch to prevent quality costs.
  • Coordinate Supply Chain team to ensure successful processes in launches/projects.
  • Ensure industrialization of the plant in time to support Launch.
  • Support budget and staffing for Launches/Projects with Launch Lead and Engineering Site Lead.
  • Act as liaison between plant PE and corporate teams during development and launch/project.
  • Ensure PE and Ops participate in development and validation during launch/project.
  • Lead with multifunctional teams a flawless ramp up until handover to Operations after LV2.
  • Manage Process Engineering open items and communicate risks to leadership.
  • Assist in validating packaging design with CoE for new launches, including trials and testing.
  • Coordinate ECN implementation on time and within budget for new Launches.
  • Define optimal layout and process flow for new equipment and packaging with CoE teams.

Position Overview

The NPI Lead is responsible for manage the multidisciplinary teams in the plant to ensure the successful and flawless implementation of the process for new launches, and develop for them a standard work that guarantees: a) The safety of our employees, b) The quality of our products, c) The high efficiency of our processes and d) A productive capacity that allows us to complete our deliverables on time. He is also responsible for working together with the Head Launch Engineering at New Launch and guiding the Supplier Chain Team in learning of the new processes.

What you'll do
  • Lead the development of a timeline for the implementation of the process and Deliverables/key milestones of the project and ensure compliance on time and within the budget.
  • Coordinate the new process development and efficiency during the Launch and 30 days after the SOP [Start of Production] (first 30 days after SOP is responsible together with the Process Engineer).
  • Support the definition of the Direct Labor “needed to run” for each of the new processes in the plant (together with Engineering Site Lead).
  • Coordinate the definition of the cycle times for each operation of the new processes and maintain them during Launch, and document it for Plant Staff approval prior to SOP (together with Engineering Site Lead).
  • Assist in developing the Standard Work for the new processes that allow us to achieve our targeted efficiency (including packaging).
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of PFMEAs for each of the new processes and support the multidisciplinary teams in the reviews of the PFMEAs during Launch in order to prevent cost of poor quality.
  • Coordinate the Supply Chain team in the plant to ensure successful processes in new launches/projects.
  • Guarantee the industrialization of the plant in time to support the Launch.
  • Support the Launch Lead and Engineering Site Lead to ensure a proper budget for each Launch/Project and utilization (expenses and capex).
  • Support the Launch Lead and the Engineering Site Led to ensure the proper staff support and develop each Launch/Project.
  • Act as a liaison between the plant PE and corporate teams to facilitate interaction during the development of the process during launch/project, including the communication with R&D/Product on the design phase.
  • Ensure that the PE and Ops team actively participate in the development and validation process during the launch/project.
  • Lead with multifunctional teams a flawless ramp up of the process for the launch/project until it is handed over to Operations after LV2.
  • Manage and track all the Process Engineering open items for launches/projects and keeps communicated to the Launch Lead, Operation Director and Engineering Site Lead of any potential risk.
  • Assist in validating and approving packaging design together with the packing CoE team, specifications and appearance for new packaging or new equipment/tooling for packaging for new Launches.
  • Participate in leading and performing packaging trials and tests in the plant together with Packaging CoE team for new Launches.
  • Coordinate the ECN implementation, on time and within the budget for new Launches during Launch.
  • Participate in the definition of the optimal layout for any new equipment, tooling or process including packaging together with Industrial Engineering CoE team, for new Launches.
  • Participate in the definition of the optimal process flow for any new equipment, tooling or process including packaging together with Industrial, Automation and Maintenance CoE team for new Launches.
  • Ensure Best Practices are considered and implemented (as needed) for new Launches.
  • Support the performance of the LV1 (together with Engineering Site Lead) and support the proper documentation of the results (headcount, cycle times, rates, efficiencies, scrap %, rework %, etc.).
  • Support LV2 events for new Launches (as needed).
  • Help remove any roadblocks that can prevent the process for the launch/project to be successful.
  • Support the Engineering Site Lead in New Launches (as needed) and provide guidance to the team in New Launches whenever the Engineering Site Lead is not available.
Who you are
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • At least 5 yrs of experience in projects
  • At least 3 yrs of experience in process or manufacturing areas
  • At least 3 yrs of experience as a Leader in the manufacturing industry
  • Bilingual in English 90%
