Job summary

Voith Group in West Monroe, LA is seeking a Lathe Operator for 2nd shift to prepare and trim paper mill rolls and ensure precision in turning operations. You will mount bearings, align lathes, and follow VOITH Quality procedures to maintain safety and quality.

The role requires good basic math, ability to lift 60 pounds, and willingness to work 12-hour shifts as needed. Prior crane experience is preferred; micrometers and dial indicators are used for inspection.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

Prepare paper mill rolls for the cover process as well as trim the new covers for finishing.

Responsibilities

• Mount bearings, run multiple size lathes, line rolls up with a dial indicator, and doing so with safe practices.
• Perform all job requirements according to procedures as outlined in the VOITH Quality Manual, Company Procedures, and Work Instructions.
• Report problems to higher levels of authority as required by the Quality System.
• All other duties that may be assigned.
• Willing to learn multiple positions (cross train.)

Requirements

• Use standard hand tools, including hammers, crescent wrenches, end wrenches, squares, tape measures, and various saws.
• Overhead crane experience preferred.
• Knowledge of a dial indicator, diameter tape, and micrometer is a plus.
• Demonstrate strong basic math skills.

Physical Requirements

• Lift at least 60 pounds multiple times.
• Work 12 hour shifts when needed while constantly staying focused.
• Swing a 20-pound sledgehammer to tighten bearings.
