Job summary

San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department is seeking a Lateral Firefighter/Paramedic to join our nine-station operation serving Belmont, Foster City and San Mateo. The role entails firefighting, advanced medical response, and EMS duties within a structured department, including a three-week in-house academy and probationary period.

Ideal candidates hold Firefighter I, Paramedic licensure (National Registry acceptable), a California driver's license, and at least three years of CA Firefighter I

Qualifications

  • Experience, Education and Training: You are currently employed or have been employed as a Firefighter/Paramedic within the last twelve months.
  • You possess Firefighter 1 certification
  • You possess a valid Paramedic Licensure (National Registry acceptable) or will obtain one by date of appointment
  • You have at least 3 years equivalent to CA Firefighter 1 experience (seasonal firefighting experience will be considered on a case by case basis)
  • You have a high School diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Firefighter/Paramedic fights fires and provides medical response to protect life and property.
  • Participates in fire prevention, code enforcement, public education, and training programs.
  • Demonstrates operating and mechanical knowledge of fire apparatus and equipment.
