Job summary

South Jordan City invites experienced Lateral Firefighter Paramedics to join the Fire Department. The role delivers EMS, firefighting, and rescue across a variety of incidents.

Eligible candidates must have at least one year of verifiable full-time experience as Firefighter Paramedic/EMT and hold the required Utah licenses. The position is full-time with rotating 48-hour shifts and an open application deadline of October 1, 2026.

Qualifications

• ACLS and PALS certifications preferred.
• CPR for healthcare providers required.
• Utah Firefighter II and HM Operations certifications preferred or obtainable.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire, rescue, medical, and hazardous materials emergencies.
• Provide advanced and basic life support; assess, treat, and transport patients.
• Perform fire suppression activities including search and rescue, ventilation, and overhaul.
• Operate and maintain firefighting and emergency medical equipment.
• Conduct life safety inspections, hydrant testing, and pre-incident planning.
• Deliver public education programs on safety and emergency preparedness.
• Participate in ongoing training, station maintenance, and equipment readiness.
• Complete reports, documentation, and administrative tasks.

The City of South Jordan is hiring full time Lateral Firefighter Paramedics to join our Fire Department. This position provides emergency medical services, firefighting, and rescue support across a wide variety of incidents. Minimum Qualifications

• Utah Firefighter II and Hazardous Materials Operations certifications or ability to obtain
• Must meet department physical ability standards

• Proficient in the use of firefighting and EMS equipment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to make sound decisions in high-stress situations
• Comfortable working in all weather conditions and high-risk environments

Work Conditions

• Exposure to hazardous conditions including fire, smoke, extreme temperatures, and traumatic incidents.
• Requires physical strength, endurance, and mental resilience.
• Work schedule includes rotating 48-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and possible emergency call-outs.
• Involves extended periods of physical exertion and irregular sleep
