Job summary

SpaceX is expanding its Starship manufacturing and launch capabilities. A Laser Tracker Toolmaker builds and improves mechanical systems and tooling, using GD&T and laser trackers to guide assembly and inspection. You will work with engineers, machinists, and fabricators to ensure precision and safety on large structures and test flights.

The role emphasizes data collection, analysis, and clear communication, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with GD&T interpretation on blueprints at multiple assembly levels.
• Minimum 2+ years in millwright, machining, or industrial mechanic roles.
• 2+ years of professional experience with laser trackers or other 3D measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

• Interpret GD&T on blueprints at all assembly levels.
• Collect geometric data using laser tracker and Verisurf.
• Establish and apply reference systems on and off parts.
• Analyze data to guide remaining tooling operations.
• Integrate process monitoring with fabrication to locate welding and machining details.
• Communicate findings to fabricators, machinists and engineers.
• Maintain safety and SpaceX quality standards.
• Keep an orderly, efficient work environment.
