Corning Inc. invites applications for a Senior R&D Technician, Laser Processing, to join the Laser Processing Technologies team in Sullivan Park, Corning, NY.

This onsite, day-shift role supports laser-based research and process delivery through operation, maintenance, and improvement of laser systems and laboratory processes. You will execute experiments, evaluate results, and deliver samples while collaborating with scientists, engineers, technicians, internal customers, and facilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, science, or another STEM-related field.
• High school diploma/GED or associate degree plus 3+ years of hands-on experience in a lab/technical environment.
• Ability to apply the scientific method and basic engineering principles to work.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to follow safety and operating procedures in a lab environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
• Experience with cross-functional collaboration with scientists, engineers, technicians and facilities partners.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute laser-processing experiments; document setups, process settings, observations, and results.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laser systems and related lab infrastructure.
• Evaluate samples and results; communicate findings and recommendations.
• Assist assembly, installation, and start-up of new laser setups and equipment.
• Maintain safety, equipment, and process documentation including SOPs.
• Support lab readiness through organization, inventory and training.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, science, or STEM
