Job summary

EMJ in Plainfield, IN is seeking a Tube Laser Operator to set up, operate, and maintain tube laser machines per SOPs. You will load materials, import part files, adjust settings, and inspect parts to ensure conformance to specifications.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, ability to read blueprints, and use precision measuring tools. Safety, quality, and efficiency are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience or equivalent education/experience.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License preferred.
• Ability to obtain certification to operate material handling equipment.
• Experience in warehousing or material handling preferred.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Basic math and measurement skills including fractions.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic hand tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Effective communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Select and verify raw materials using tape measures and calipers according to EMJ color codes.
• Load raw material using forklifts, side loaders, or overhead cranes.
• Import part files into the laser system from a remote drive using Windows-based applications.
• Set machine parameters, change lenses, nozzles, and filters, and perform basic maintenance.
• Adjust tech tables for laser focus, gas pressure, and power settings.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, height gauges, micrometers, and other precision tools to match print specifications.
• Read and interpret packaging instructions to properly package finished parts using manual or mechanical assistance.
• Transport packaged goods to staging areas using forklifts, side loaders, or overhead cranes.
• Maintain work area cleanliness and comply with all company safety protocols and procedures.

Compensation: Base pay for this position is $22.00-$24.00 hourly. Actual compensation will depend on qualifications, experience, and other business factors permitted by law.

Job Summary

The Tube Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the tube
laser machine(s) in accordance with standard operating procedures and work instructions.
This role includes selecting and loading raw materials, importing part files, adjusting
machine settings, and inspecting parts to ensure conformance to specifications. Operators
are expected to have a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read blueprints and use
precision measuring tools. Safety, quality, and efficiency are essential in this role.
