The Cleveland Clinic Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery seeks a fellowship-trained, BC/BE Laryngologist to join our Center for Voice and Swallowing at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

You will maintain a full-spectrum laryngology practice including airway disorders, professional voice, neurolaryngology, swallowing disorders, and opportunities to develop a focused research or clinical interest within a vibrant academic environment.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited program.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency.
  • Completion of a fellowship in Laryngology.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Ohio medical license.
  • Academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Open to clinician, clinician-educator, or physician-investigator tracks; surgeon-scientists with active or developing research program encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-spectrum laryngology care including office-based and operative management of voice, airway, and swallowing disorders.
  • Educate and mentor otolaryngology residents and laryngology fellows.
  • Engage in clinical and outcomes research and/or quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with speech-language pathology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, neurology, and other specialties.
  • Participate in departmental, hospital, and national society activities as appropriate to rank and interest.

Job description

The Cleveland Clinic Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is seeking a fellowship-trained, BC/BE Laryngologist to join our Center for Voice and Swallowing at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (academic rank commensurate with training and experience). This is an exciting opportunity to join a nationally recognized program with a robust multidisciplinary team, an established laryngology fellowship, and a strong culture of clinical innovation and outcomes research.

The successful candidate will maintain a full-spectrum laryngology practice including but not limited to airway disorders, professional voice, neurolaryngology, laryngeal dystonia, chronic cough, and swallowing disorders with the opportunity to develop a focused area of clinical or academic interest based on personal expertise.

About the Program

The Center for Voice and Swallowing is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program integrating laryngology, speech-language pathology, and related specialties to provide advanced care for patients with voice, airway, and swallowing disorders. The section supports an active American Laryngological Association recognized Laryngology Fellowship and trains otolaryngology residents from the Cleveland Clinic program. Faculty are encouraged to pursue outcomes research, clinical trials, quality improvement, and innovation initiatives, supported by Cleveland Clinic's institutional research infrastructure and Cleveland Clinic Innovations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive, full-spectrum clinical care in laryngology, including office-based and operative management of voice, airway, and swallowing disorders
  • Participate in the education and mentorship of otolaryngology residents and laryngology fellows
  • Engage in scholarly activity clinical research, outcomes research, and/or quality improvement consistent with an academic appointment
  • Collaborate closely with speech-language pathology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, neurology, and other partnering specialties
  • Participate in departmental, hospital, and national society activities as appropriate to rank and interest
Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited (or equivalent) Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency
  • Completion of a fellowship in Laryngology
  • Board certified or board eligible in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery
  • Eligible for an unrestricted Ohio medical license
  • Academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commensurate with qualifications and experience
  • Open to candidates across clinician, clinician-educator, or physician-investigator tracks; surgeon-scientists with an active or developing research program are strongly encouraged to apply. Track and academic focus will be discussed individually with the candidate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated interest or productivity in clinical/outcomes research and peer-reviewed publication
  • Experience or interest in a subspecialty focus area (e.g., airway stenosis, neurolaryngology, professional voice, chronic cough, laryngopharyngeal reflux, or swallowing disorders)
  • Interest in resident/fellow education and program development
  • Interest in clinical innovation, quality improvement, or technology development
  • Surgeon Scientist candidates are encouraged to apply as well
