Job summary

Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) Academy in Sugar Land, TX, seeks a Part-Time Language Arts Instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. You will teach engaging language arts curriculum to small classes, foster student-led learning, and provide feedback on assessments.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree and experience in education or humanities, with strong reading, writing, and grammar knowledge. Responsibilities include managing up to 16 students, building strong relationships with

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in education or a humanities field is strongly preferred.
• Strong content knowledge in reading, writing, and/or grammar.
• Experience teaching or tutoring students.
• Classroom teaching experience at the K-12 level is preferred.
• Not Required: a formal teaching credential.

Join Our AoPS Academy as a Language Arts Instructor!

We are currently hiring instructors for the academic year 2026-2027.

The Part-Time Instructor will:

• Teach Engaging Curriculum: Use company-created curriculum and materials designed for advanced students to lead small classes in language arts.
• Engage Students: Actively involve students in each class for student-led learning.
• Classroom Management: Expertly manage up to 16 students.
• Grade & Provide Feedback: Provide feedback on tests.
• Build Relationships: Connect with students and families to make a lasting impact on their educational journey.
• Inspire Learning: Encourage a love for learning and critical thinking in language arts.

Schedule:

• AoPS Academy is an afterschool program with classes in the evenings and on weekends. Candidates must be available to teach during weekday after-school hours (as early as 4pm) and/or on weekends.
• This position requires a minimum initial commitment of about 3 hours per week for each assigned class.
• Each course meets once per week for 1 hour 45 minutes.

Campus Location:

• This is an in-person position at our Sugar Land location.
• Candidates must be located in Sugar Land, TX or the surrounding area and must be able to commute to our campus.
