Job summary

Fort Wayne Community School District is seeking a qualified athletics coach for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves instructing and supervising all athletic practices and games, and working to build positive relationships with students, parents, teachers and administrators.

The ideal candidate has prior coaching experience, is comfortable with students from diverse backgrounds, and is willing to obtain SPB/Minibus certification before the season.

Qualifications

• Prefer candidate with high school coaching experience.
• Must be willing to work effectively with students from multicultural backgrounds.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• If teaching at Lane Middle School, must fulfill daily contracted hours before coaching; if not FWCS teacher, must be available at 3:30 PM on weekdays.
• Must be willing to obtain SPB/ Minibus certification before season.

Essential Functions

• Candidate must comply with IHSAA MSAC rules/ regulations and all FWCS policies including FWCS code of ethics.
• Prefer candidate with high school coaching experience.
• Must be willing and able to work effectively with students from multicultural backgrounds.
• Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to developing positive working relations with students parents teachers and administrators.
• Candidate will be responsible to instruct and supervise all athletic practices and games.
• Candidate must have the ability to maintain high expectations for students both academically and athletically.
• Candidate must have the ability to utilize organize and work with other head coaches and assistants.
• Candidate must have or be willing to get SPB/ Minibus certification before season.

Qualifications

Prefer candidate who will be teaching at Lane Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. If applicant is a current FWCS teacher the teacher must fulfill their daily contracted hours before coaching. If not an FWCS teacher candidate must be available at 3:30 Monday through Friday afternoons.

Valid Driver's License required.
