Job summary

Heritage Hotels & Resorts in New Mexico is seeking a Landscaping Technician to maintain exterior beauty, safety and functionality of our properties. You will care for plants, turf and irrigation systems, enhancing guest experiences and protecting the natural character of the region.

The role involves pruning, fertilization, pest control, and operating landscape equipment. Strong NM climate knowledge and ability to work flexible hours are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of grounds maintenance or landscaping experience.
• Formal education or certifications in horticulture, landscaping or irrigation preferred.
• Experience working in New Mexico or similar regional climates preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily upkeep of landscaping, plants, turf and exterior grounds elements.
• Monitor plant health, pruning, trimming, fertilization, pest control and seasonal care.
• Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems including valves, controllers, piping, wiring, rotors, spray heads, drip tubing and bubblers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot irrigation and drainage issues and perform corrective maintenance.
• Maintain parking lots, walkways, entryways and outdoor guest areas including snow and ice removal when necessary.

We are seeking a Landscaping Technician to join our team! In this role, you help shape the first and lasting impression of the property by maintaining its exterior beauty, safety and functionality. Your hands‑on expertise in landscaping and irrigation directly enhances guest experience and preserves the natural character of the region.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain a high level of positive and professional interaction with guests, team members and external partners.
• Perform daily upkeep of landscaping, plants, turf and all exterior grounds elements.
• Apply horticultural knowledge specific to New Mexico climates, soil types and native and adaptive plant species.
• Monitor plant health and perform pruning, trimming, fertilization, pest control and seasonal care.
• Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems including valves, controllers, piping, wiring, rotors, spray heads, drip tubing and bubblers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot irrigation and drainage issues and perform corrective maintenance.
• Maintain parking lots, walkways, entryways and outdoor guest areas including snow and ice removal when necessary.
• Safely operate landscaping tools, mowers, trimmers, blowers and grounds equipment.
• Ensure all work activities comply with safety, sanitation and health regulations and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and professional appearance.
• Protect company assets and maintain confidentiality of proprietary, client and guest information.
• Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of one (1) year of grounds maintenance, landscaping or construction experience required.
• Formal education or certifications in horticulture, landscaping or irrigation systems preferred.
• Experience working in New Mexico or similar regional climates strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of horticulture, landscaping and plant care with desert and high altitude experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and operate equipment responsibly.
• Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules including long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Current unrestricted driver’s license required and must be eligible for company group insurance.
