Job summary

Intermountain Health in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a Maintenance Worker I - Grounds for our facilities in the American Fork Hospital MG Support area. • Demonstrates a basic knowledge in landscape maintenance, including irrigation systems, and the use of insecticides and herbicides on turf, trees, and flowerbeds.

Job Description Summary

The Maintenance Worker I - Grounds is an entry-level position in the Facilities Management department. The position may entail work focused on groundskeeping and the caregiver may be assigned to work in a variety of areas of focus. The Maintenance Worker I - Grounds may also have opportunities to assist with and learn general maintenance skills in a hospital setting.

Schedule: Full-time/benefits eligible Monday-Friday 7am to 3:30pm, calls as needed mostly during winter months for snow removal

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Bending, lifting, stooping, crawling, laying, sitting, walking, climbing.

Use of hand and power tools, proper use of hearing and eye protection.

Exposure to extreme temperatures in nature, work in noisy or constricted spaces, exposure to odors and smells.
