Job summary

Kampgrounds Enterprises, Inc. is hiring a full-time landscape maintenance team member for the San Diego KOA. The role includes maintaining campground landscaping, assisting guests, and enforcing park policies.

Workdays are Mon-Fri with possible weekend shifts; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, paying $19 per hour, with subsidized health insurance and a Simple IRA after milestones. Responsibilities include operating tools and irrigation maintenance, planting and transplanting as directed, and keeping equipment

Qualifications

• 2 years of landscaping experience.
• Able to work with others and independently.
• Recognize and identify plants, trees, shrubs and flowers used in landscaping.
• Ability to operate light vehicles safely on the property.
• Intermediate knowledge of common tools used for gardening/landscaping.

Responsibilities

• Ensure customers receive a high level of service per our customer service philosophy.
• Help ensure safety of guests and campground property through attentive observation and action.
• Enforce campground policies and implement solutions aligned with park goals.
• Maintain campground landscaping including trimming and shaping shrubs, trees, and plants for health and aesthetics; remove weeds and debris.
• Safely use landscaping tools and equipment (hedge trimmer, chainsaw, blowers, pruners, etc.).
• Maintain and repair irrigation systems: sprinkler heads, lateral lines, valves.

The San Diego KOA is an award-winning outdoor campground resort looking for a hard working landscape maintenance team member. For over 50 years we have been welcoming guests and families from all over the world. Sunny southern California allows us to be open 365 days a year offering camping in RVs, Cabins, Deluxe Cabins & tents. Our goal is to create a great camping experience for our guests by offering excellent customer service. HOURS

• Full time – 40 hours/week
• Monday – Friday with an occasional weekend day
• 8am - 4:30pm
• $19/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures customers receive a high level of service consistent with our customer service philosophy
• Help to ensure the safety of guest and campground property with attentive observation and action
• Help enforce campground policies and implement solutions consistent with goals of park
• Maintain the upkeep of the campground landscaping. This can include but is not limited to: trimming and shaping shrubs, trees, and plants for health and aesthetic looks as well as removal of unwanted weeds, grasses, leaf litter and other debris
• Safe and proper use of equipment tools used in landscaping such as hedge line trimmer, chainsaw, blowers, hand tools, pruners, saws, rakes, shovels, cultivator, etc.
• Maintenance and repair of irrigation system: sprinkler head replacement and adjustment, lateral line repairs and valve replacement
• Planting and transplantation of trees, shrubs, plants, flowers as directed
• Clean equipment, tools, and work area as required
• Other duties as assigned by the maintenance or general manager

RESPONSABILIDADES

• Uso seguro y adecuado de las herramientas del equipo que se utilizan en la jardinería, como cortadora de pasto, motosierra, sopladores, herramientas manuales, podadoras, sierras, rastrillos, palas, cultivador, etc.
• Mantenimiento y reparación del sistema de riego: reemplazo y ajuste de cabeza del rociador, reparación de la líneas laterales y reemplazo de válvulas de riego.
• Plantación y transplante y poda de árboles, arbustos, plantas y flores según las instrucciones.
• Limpiar el equipo, las herramientas y el área de trabajo según sea necesario
• Otras tareas asignadas por el gerente de jardineria o gerente general

Requirements

• 2 years experience in landscaping
• Able to work with others and work independently

• Intermediate experience with powered equipment used for gardening/landscaping
• Capable of digging, bending, climbing, and other manual labor
• Professional Appearance and attitude towards guests and fellow team members
• Communicate professionally and patiently
• Be on your feet during shift and able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to do a variety of tasks both in and out of the daily scope of work
• Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
