Job summary

Prysmian Encore Wire is seeking a Grounds Maintenance worker in Texas to cultivate and care for the landscaping and grounds. You will perform sod laying, mowing, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and sprinkler installation as part of a dedicated team.

The position pays $19.25 per hour, Monday through Friday, 7am to 3pm, with exposure to outdoor weather and varying conditions. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds and operate related tools and equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in ground maintenance/horticulture preferred.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Ability to operate hand tools and power equipment used in ground maintenance.
• Ability to work in varied outside conditions.
• Able to carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and removes litter; disposes trash or waste materials.
• Operates mowers, tractors, and other equipment.
• Irrigates lawns, trees, or plants.
• Prunes or trims trees, shrubs, or hedges.
• Mows or edges lawns using mowers or edgers.

Position Overview

Responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds. Performs a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, and sprinkler installation. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to loud noise levels; fumes or airborne particles from engine exhaust; outside weather conditions; wet and/or humid conditions; and extreme heat and/or cold.

$19.25

Shift:

Monday thru Friday, 7am-3pm

Essential Job Functions:

• Gathers and removes litter; disposes trash or waste materials.
• Uses hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
• Operates vehicles or powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws.
• Irrigates lawns, trees, or plants.
• Prunes or trims trees, shrubs, or hedges.
• Mows or edges lawns using power mowers or edgers.
• Follows planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers or foliage.
• Clears sidewalks, driveways and parking lots of debris.
• Performs minor repairs; maintains all assigned equipment, vehicles and trailers, to include checking fluid levels, refueling, checking tire pressure, cleaning adjusting and greasing.
• Attends training and other required company functions as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma or G.E.D certificate preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in ground maintenance/horticulture preferred.
• Ability to read and write the English language.
• Ability to properly and safely operate all hand tools and power equipment used in ground maintenance activities.
• Ability to work in a variety of outside conditions for long periods of time.
• Ability to assume a variety of bodily positions and postures possibly for long periods of time to include sitting, standing, bending, reaching, leaning, pushing, pulling, grasping, turning, twisting, lifting and walking.
• Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds; constantly grip up to 50 pounds.
