Job summary

The Landscape Technician for PARKWAY MAINTENANCE & MANAGEMENT PINELLAS LLC performs landscape upkeep for common areas, mowing, edging, trimming, and debris removal as part of a crew. Daily tasks include weed control and plant maintenance to meet company standards.

Working days are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, in outdoor conditions. A High School diploma or GED is preferred; a valid Florida driver’s license is advantageous; safety procedures must be followed at all times.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferable but not required.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license preferred.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and wear PPE.
  • Knowledge of basic landscaping techniques and safety considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Mow, edge, trim, and blow around buildings, roadsides, and sidewalks.
  • Landscape projects including shrubbery trimming and weed control.
  • Debris removal and routine site cleanup.
  • Sod installation or planting duties as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and report issues to supervisor.
  • Adhere to safety rules and participate in safety meetings.

Job Summary/Overview

The Landscape Technician is responsible for the landscape maintenance of the common areas of the property. The Landscape Technician mows grass, edges sidewalks and roadsides, blows off areas, trims hedges, removes weeds, etc. They are part of a detailing landscape crew and interchanges duties within the group. This position ensures that the company’s quality of work practices and standards are up held and that all regulatory agency guidelines are followed. The Landscape technician is a highly visible position that has daily contact with residents and employees and requires the utmost awareness of how actions and communications are received and perceived.

Monday-Friday
7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Mow, edge, trim, and blow, around buildings, roadsides, sidewalks, etc.
  • Landscape projects such as shrubbery trimming or removal, thinning-out and/or removal of plants, weeds and leaves.
  • Debris pick-up and removal
  • Sod installation or planting duties as needed
  • Perform other various landscaping tasks as directed by supervisor(s).
  • Walk areas and remove anything that presents a safety or damage hazard for equipment.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment, trailers and vehicles. .
  • Evaluate equipment problems and report them to mechanics and supervisor(s)
  • Strictly adhere to all safety procedures and use the proper personal protection equipment
  • Attend all safety meetings
  • Aid with other positions and/or departments as needed.
  • Perform other tasks when requested by superintendents or managers.
  • Help in emergency situations as needed.
  • Perform flagging duties as needed for safety

Working Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The majority of work is performed is outdoors and regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions. Exposure to high temperatures (95 degrees and above), low temperatures (32 degrees and below) and a variety of weather conditions is common. Use of gas and/or diesel powered mowers, gas powered equipment (Line trimmers, hedge trimmers, stick-edgers, etc.), hand tools (Rakes, shovels, loppers, etc.). Occasional use of battery and/or gas powered golf carts and utility vehicles. The typical noise level is loud to very loud.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell; will regularly be required to push, pull, stand, walk, and to lift up to fifty pounds; and will frequently be required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Vision requirements are close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Exerting 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

Organizational Relationships

The Landscape Technician reports directly to Landscape Crew Leader and the Landscaping Foreman and Assistant Superintendent. The Landscape Technician also works closely with all other members of the management and maintenance department.

Certifications or Licenses
  • Valid Florida driver’s license, with acceptable driving history preferred.
  • Ability to become certified in light trailer operation and complete Golf Cart Training on the job.
Special Requirements
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.

  • Knowledge of safety practices
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Experience with and knowledge of commercial/residential landscaping techniques and equipment
