SUMMARY
Assists the Landscape Manager in managing grounds and landscape activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drives company vehicles used to transport employees and pick up supplies daily.
- Trains and instructs Crew Leaders, LO I’s and LO II’s in proper landscape maintenance practices and safety techniques.
- In-charge of specific landscape areas throughout the community and the Estates of Bay Colony.
- Oversee the safe operation of equipment such as push mowers, riding mowers, hedge trimmers, weed eater, stick edger, vacuums and blowers.
- Oversee accurate gas log record on equipment used.
- Oversee cleaning and inspections of machinery after each use.
- Oversee the fertilization of turf grass and landscaped areas.
- Reports machinery/equipment problems to the supervisor.
- Make necessary minor adjustments to equipment.
- Assists with the loading and unloading of materials.
- Assists Crew leader, LOI and LO II’s with the trimming of trees and removal of cuttings.
- Directs staff to water plants.
- Assists staff with cutting grass, weeding and trimming bushes.
- Inform supervisor of any damage to grounds or property.
- Performs tasks in compliance with established departmental safety program for employees.
- Applies chemicals and pesticides as necessary, under the direction of the C.P.O.
- Available during off business hours for emergency situations in the community. Weekend duty may be required.
- Examine potential unsafe working conditions and order corrective actions.
- Identify staff training needs, proper use of tools and equipment, safety, etc.
- Supervise contracted services and assist with identification of need for contracted services.
- All other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS
- Three to five (3 - 5) years’ experience in landscape maintenance and/or landscape installation required. Supervisory experience helpful but not required; will train.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must have nnowledge of native Florida plants and ecosystems (ornamental).
- Experience working at a private country club or private upscale community preferred.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, multi-task oriented and possess excellent communication skills.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Pesticide Application License/CPO Lawn & Ornamental preferred.
