Job Summary/Basic Function: The mowing crew is responsible for maintaining WSU turf. Experience with mowing, string trimming, edging, leaf removal, and other duties are necessary to be a member of the Mowing crew.
Maintaining equilibrium to prevent falling. Walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Bending legs at knee to rest on knees. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Standing for sustained periods. Moving about to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward or outward. Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul, or tug objects in a sustained motion. Lifting objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally. Operating, activating, using, preparing, inspecting, placing, detecting or positioning. Grasping by applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm. Feeling by perceiving attributes of objects. Expressing or exchanging ideas with accurate or quick instructions.
Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires visual acuity for operating machines and skilled trade tasks.
Environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily against temperature changes. Outdoor work may involve extreme heat with temperatures above 100°F for periods of more than one hour. Noise may require shouting to be heard above ambient noise level. Vibration from oscillating movements of extremities or whole body. Hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, scaffolding, high places, high heat, chemicals. Atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
