Job summary

Green Summit Landscape Management LLC in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a Landscape Irrigation Intern for Summer 2027 to gain practical experience with commercial irrigation systems under the guidance of experienced technicians and managers.

You will learn about installation, maintenance, inspections, and repairs while appreciating how proper irrigation supports healthy landscapes and water management. This hands-on internship blends field work with office exposure.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree or coursework in irrigation or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist irrigation technicians with inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of commercial irrigation systems.
• Learn how to identify and diagnose common irrigation problems.
• Assist with checking sprinkler heads, valves, drip systems, controllers, and irrigation lines.
• Help identify issues such as leaks, broken sprinkler heads, clogged nozzles, poor coverage, overspray, and improper watering.
• Assist with irrigation controller programming and seasonal adjustments.
• Participate in irrigation system start-ups, inspections, and winterization as applicable.
• Assist with irrigation repairs and system improvements.
• Participate in property walks and irrigation audits.
• Help document irrigation issues, repairs, and recommended improvements.
• Learn how irrigation systems are designed to provide appropriate coverage and efficient water distribution.
• Work with field teams to ensure irrigation systems support the health and appearance of the landscape.
• Follow all company safety procedures and proper equipment-use practices.
• Assist with additional landscape and irrigation projects as needed.

Green Summit Landscape Management is seeking a motivated and hands-on Landscape Irrigation Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2027! This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in commercial landscape irrigation while working alongside experienced irrigation technicians, field operations managers, and other landscape professionals.

The Landscape Irrigation Intern will learn how irrigation systems are installed, maintained, inspected, and repaired while gaining an understanding of how proper irrigation practices contribute to healthy landscapes and responsible water management.

What You’ll Do

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree, certificate, or coursework in Irrigation, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Agricultural Sciences, Water Management, or a related field.
• Strong interest in irrigation, landscaping, water management, or the green industry.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work with tools and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and accept direction and feedback.
• Valid driver's license is a plus.

Previous irrigation or landscaping experience is helpful but not required.

Preferred Skills

Experience or familiarity with any of the following is a plus:

• Irrigation controllers
• Irrigation valves
• Backflow prevention
• Irrigation troubleshooting
• AutoCAD or other design software
• Microsoft Office
• Basic hand and power tools

This is a hands-on internship with both field and office exposure. Interns will spend time visiting commercial properties and working alongside irrigation professionals to gain practical experience with real irrigation systems.

The position may require working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing physical tasks associated with irrigation maintenance and repair.
