Job summary

Dennis’ 7 Dees in Portland invites students enrolled in horticulture or landscape programs to join our internship. You’ll rotate through Residential Design/Build, Commercial Construction, Landscape Maintenance, and Interior Plantscaping, gaining hands-on experience across divisions while working in a family-owned, supportive environment.

The program is flexible, with a minimum of 8 weeks and up to 12 weeks, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and a start for Summer 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a horticulture or landscape related 2- or 4-year degree program.
• Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Have a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Must be on time and ready to work each day.
• Able to perform physically demanding work for long hours.
• Preemployment drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through all landscape divisions: field work and shadowing designers, estimators, and project managers.
• Support field crews during residential and commercial projects.
• Learn irrigation and water management practices in the field.
• Shadow account managers and maintenance teams to understand client communication.
• Assist admin and support teams to understand company operations.

What You’ll Do

This program is designed to provide a comprehensive, holistic introduction to the landscape industry at every level. During your internship, you’ll rotate through all our landscape divisions, spending time in the field, and job shadowing designers, estimators, and project managers, before moving to the next division. Schedule is highly customizable and tailored to your areas of interest and internship length.

Residential Design/Build (2-3 weeks)

• Job shadow designers, sales, and project managers.
• Work in the field with a crew installing projects.

Commercial Construction (1-2 weeks)

• Job shadow estimators and project managers.
• Join a crew in the field on one of our commercial projects.

Landscape Maintenance (3-4 weeks)

• Work in the field to get firsthand landscape maintenance experience.
• Learn about water management in the field with our irrigation team.
• Job shadow withour residential andcommercial maintenance account managers and field supervisors.

Urban Plantscapes (1-2 weeks)

• Enter a lush world of interior plants with our Urban Plantscapes team.
• Job shadow account manager, designer, and techs in the field.

Admin and Management (1 week)

• Take a peek behind the scenes at how our company is run with our administrative, management, and support teams.

Work Schedule and Environment

• Accepting applications for Summer 2027
• Internship duration is flexible; minimum length 8weeks, maximum 12weeks.
• You’ll work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with weekends off.
• Daily schedule varies depending on tasks or teams assigned.
• This position is based out of our main office and landscaping headquarters in SE Portland.

Compensation

• This is a paid internship offering a wage of $18 per hour.
