Position Summary

Under close supervision, the Landscape Gardener installs and maintains landscaped areas, roads, and parking lots of assigned facilities. Employees perform work to assure grounds are maintained in safe and pristine condition. The role requires knowledge of landscaping practices, procedures, supplies, equipment, and the ability to execute landscaping job functions safely and timely.

Typical Duties

• Perform landscape maintenance activities and improvement projects at customer locations.
• Mow lawns, trim hedges and shrubs, and maintain overall appearance of landscape vegetation and grounds.
• Apply fertilizer, weed killer, and necessary pesticides; pull weeds and maintain flower beds.
• Pick up trash and leaves, creating a clean and neat appearance of the grounds.
• Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper vegetation watering.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of landscaping experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of landscape maintenance standards, techniques, materials, and safe, proper use of chemicals is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests from team, customers, and others.
• Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English.
• Human relations skills to maintain effective working relationships with team.
• Effective customer service skills.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.

Certificates Required

Valid Driver's License.

Physical Requirements

• Standing and/or walking for extended periods.
• Bending and stooping.
• Exposure to toxic substances.
• Exposure to wind, rain, cold, and heat.
• Noise from equipment.
• Lifting 35 lbs. regularly.

Work Environment

Majority of work is performed outside at job sites subject to weather conditions in an environment using landscaping tools and equipment. Travel between worksites may be required.
