Job summary

Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando is seeking a skilled Construction Gardener to join the Horticulture team. You will perform a range of landscape maintenance tasks, including shrub pruning, tree and palm installation, and basic cleanup, with proficiency in identifying 50 common plants within 90 days of hire.

This role requires 3+ years in landscape construction, a high school diploma or GED, and a valid Florida driver's license.

Qualifications

Requires ability to perform shrub installation, foliage maintenance, tree installation, heavy equipment operation, and basic cleanup.
Proficiency in plant identification of 50 common plant names within 90 days of hire.
3+ years construction or landscape maintenance experience in upscale environments.
Valid Florida Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

Assist in specimen tree relocation including ball and burlap operation, jetting in, and staking and guying.
Trim/prune shrubs, ground covers, vines and some trees/palms with hand tools and 2-cycle equipment; operate power shovel and power hammer.
Site preparation including removal of existing plant material and hardscape, grading and drainage.
Operate machinery for loading, unloading and transporting materials, equipment and supplies.
Identify need for and provide supplemental water with manual operation of irrigation zones and hand watering.
Assist with planting, mulching, watering and maintenance of tree, shrub, and groundcover plantings; install hardscape elements.
Perform equipment maintenance as required.
Follow EH&S policies and participate in safety activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
