Job summary

Infor is seeking a Landscape Chemical Technician to ensure optimal care for landscaped areas at Pechanga Resort Casino. Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Landscape Chemical Technician performs chemical and fertilizer applications throughout landscaped areas of Pechanga Resort Casino (PRC). The Chemical Technician will serve as a resource to the Landscaper positions.

FOUR DIAMOND SERVICE AGREEMENT

All Team Members will display a Four Diamond commitment to Guest Service through the delivery and maintenance of the Quality Standards established by PRC.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Applies fertilizers and chemicals throughout landscaped areas of PRC.
  • Performs routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment.
  • Maintains chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state, and federal regulations.
  • Mixes, cleans up, and disposes of materials per label recommendations.
  • Adheres to all governmental safety rules and regulations.
  • Reads, understands, and keeps current with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Compiles preliminary reports of pesticide usage for the Landscaping Supervisor.
  • Operates powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin‑axle vehicles, chain‑saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
  • Waters lawns, trees, and plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans.
  • Follows planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers and foliage.
  • Mows and edges lawns using power mowers and edges.
  • Cares for natural turf fields, ensuring the underlying soil has the required composition to allow proper drainage and to support the grasses used.
  • Prunes and trims trees and cares for shrubs and hedges using appropriate gardening tools for desired outcome.
  • Provides proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planeters, burial sites, and other ground features.
  • Performs all duties that Landscaper and Landscaper II’s perform.
  • Other duties as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITY

The Landscape Chemical Technician position does not have any supervisory responsibilities. The Team Member is responsible for protecting the assets of PRC.

QUALIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

A High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; and at least three (3) years of work‑related experience is required to successfully perform this job. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

This position requires the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. The position also requires the ability to write simple correspondence. Furthermore, the position requires the ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to guests, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

This position requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The position also requires the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

This position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. The position also requires the ability to work with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must qualify to obtain and maintain a class “B” gaming license.
  • Must possess and maintain a California Pesticide Applicators Certificate or License.
  • Valid CA Driver’s License.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of chemical application equipment and related safety equipment.
  • Knowledge in the safe mechanical operation and calibration of all spreaders and sprayers.
  • Current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator. In lieu of licensing, will work directly under the supervision of a Licensed Applicator.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written directions and perform basic math as required.
  • Must possess enough physical strength, stamina, and agility to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to perform the duties of a Landscaper II.
  • Ability to communicate in English.
  • Self‑starter who is highly motivated and resourceful.
  • Must be able to work with a positive attitude in a fast paced and culturally diverse casino environment.
  • Must be able to take direction and follow through with assigned tasks.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
