Requires a BS/MS in Civil/Environmental/Mechanical Eng and at least 6 years of multidisciplinary project experience, with strong communication and teamwork skills. Safety-first mindset and ability to wear PPE on hazardous sites are essential.

Job description

APTIM is pleased to announce an immediate opening for a Landfill EnvironmentalProject Engineer in our Solid Waste Engineering Group to support our exciting portfolio of projects. This opening is in our Northern California (Concord) office. Only local candidates will be considered. Our Solid Waste Engineering Group provides the following services to both the public and private sectors: Must have landfill experience to be considered.

• Facility design and permitting
• Stormwater modeling and management plan development
• Construction oversight
• Operations and maintenance
• Hydrogeologic and geotechnical investigations

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Conduct field inspections and construction quality assurance (CQA) oversight
• Preparing site plans, grading and drainage plans, pump and piping plans, and conceptual layouts for civil earthworks, landfill grading and construction projects
• Preparing engineering calculations and supporting analyses
• Perform groundwater, leachate, stormwater and landfill gas sampling and testing
• Preparing and completing regulatory compliance reports, work plans, and special studies
• Preparing regulatory compliance reports, work plans, and special studies
• Utilizing skills and knowledge to solve complex problems
• Collaborating with other team members
• Coordinating with contractors and clients
• Possess a "Safety First" work ethic
• Providing other duties as required

Basic Qualifications:

• BS/MS Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent sciences.
• Minimum of 6 years
• Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Self-starter and problem solver
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to wear proper PPE for work on hazardous waste sites
• Physical work the ability to lift 50 pounds will be required

Desired Qualification:

• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Possession of 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher certificate
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, and ArcGIS software
• Knowledge of landfill operations and solid waste projects
• Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
