Environmental Services is charged with the maintenance and operation of Sandpoint Landfill, located
12 miles east of Carlsbad on Highway 62/180, utilizing a variety of equipment. The Landfill Operator
shall be proficient in the operation , correct application, and safe use of hand tools; the operation and
maintenance of trash compactors, front end loaders, dozers, scrapers; the safe, proper, and efficient
hauling and placement of various types of material using the above equipment, the daily maintenance
check lists of equipment including walk-around and pre-trip and operation inspections; the daily
paperwork required of the Environmental Services; the routine maintenance and cleanliness of
equipment assigned; receiving and execution of directions; debriefing for daily activities; working in a
crew environment and becoming an integral part of the crew. The Operator is subject to random drug
screening as a safety sensitive position. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend jobrelated
meetings, and perform other duties as assigned. The Road Manager Carlsbad, Road Manager
Artesia, and Sandpoint Manager all have equal authority to direct your work schedule at any time.
