IMEG Corporation is seeking a Senior Land Surveyor in Bozeman/Billings, MT to lead daily survey operations for construction layout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys. Expect to guide field crews, mentor juniors, and ensure accurate project delivery across multiple sites.

The role requires a BS/AS in Civil Engineering or equivalent, 8+ years of experience, and a Land Surveyor License. Travel to MT locations and a fulltime on-site schedule are expected.

Senior Land Surveyor | Bozeman/Billings, MT

IMEG is hiring a Senior Land Surveyor in Bozeman/Billings, MT, to lead daily survey operations for construction layout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys. This role applies diversified knowledge of land surveying principles and practices to production surveying duties, calculations, and surveying judgment in support of accurate project delivery.

Principal Responsibilities

• Perform complex survey work for construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys
• Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports
• Complete boundary reductions, boundary determinations, and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD/survey software
• Maintain and verify the accuracy of project survey data and manage company standards survey databases
• Review survey production, final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality control
• Prepare survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects
• Support the operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors, and other survey equipment
• Supervise CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing the surveys performed
• Build productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
• Prepare proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and budgets, and mentor and assist in training junior staff members
• Operate a company vehicle
• Observe safety and security procedures

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor of Science (BS) or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
• 8 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred
• Land Surveyor (LS) License required
• Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents
• Knowledge and ability to effectively deal with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and supplies
• Proficient in on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques
• Advanced understanding of office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques
• Advanced understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problems
• Proficient with AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, MS Office software
• Advanced problem-solving techniques
• Proven people management and leadership capabilities
• Possesses oral and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG
• Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
• Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
