Job summary

Sun Valley Resort in Idaho seeks a Land Stewardship Technician to lead invasive species control and habitat restoration efforts. You will inventory species, map infestations with GIS tools, and implement a holistic plan within an IPM framework.

The role requires fieldwork, strong plant knowledge, GPS/GIS experience, and the ability to work independently or with a team, while maintaining safety and delivering customer service.

Qualifications

• Background in botany, biology, natural resource management, environmental science, or related field.
• State certification as a professional applicator preferred or ability to obtain pesticide license.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
• Valid driver's license and experience operating 4WD vehicles, ATVs, trailers, etc.
• Physically fit to carry up to 50 lbs while hiking over uneven terrain.

Responsibilities

• Complete an invasive species inventory and map infestations using GIS, ArcMap, or Avenza Maps.
• Develop and implement invasive species removal plan within an IPM framework, including herbicide use and manual removal.
• Develop and implement restoration projects to reestablish native plants and seeds.
• Monitor restoration sites and document ecological changes over time.
• Coordinate with city, county, state and federal programs on invasive species and restoration.
• Ensure safe, proper, and effective herbicide application, maintenance, and calibration of equipment.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all visitors and assist with grounds maintenance.
