Job summary

Pape-Dawson is seeking Civil Engineer Interns for the summer of 2027 in our Tennessee offices (Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Franklin, Murfreesboro). You will support project teams under a licensed P.E., assisting with design tasks for residential and commercial land development while gaining exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D, technical documentation, and project coordination.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in Civil or Agricultural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles, practices, and procedures.
• Familiar with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Word, and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Able to work independently and in teams.
• Flexible with shifting priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist project managers in preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates under supervision.
• Develop design alternatives by analyzing basic engineering parameters, project objectives, and constraints.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce drawings, exhibits, and documents.
• Support technical reports, memoranda, and studies using approved formats.
• Participate in site visits, field activities, and data collection.
• Assist with redlines, submittals, and as-built drawings.
• Contribute to residential, commercial, and site development plan design.
• Evaluate site constraints to support constructability and compliance.
• Support permitting and coordination related to land development.
