RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Land Acquisition Manager to lead comprehensive land strategies for renewable energy projects across the South U.S. You will identify parcels, negotiate terms, manage due diligence, and collaborate with legal and development teams to ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong negotiation, GIS/land records knowledge, and willingness to travel to close deals and engage stakeholders. A related bachelor’s degree and renewables experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, environmental science or related field.
• Minimum 3 years in land acquisition, real estate or land management with renewables.
• Knowledge of land-use regulations, permitting and real estate law.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Execute a comprehensive land acquisition strategy aligned with project goals.
• Identify land parcels for renewable development through market analysis.
• Negotiate leases and purchase agreements with favorable terms.
• Coordinate with legal to structure compliant land agreements.
• Conduct due diligence including title searches and permitting requirements.

The Land Acquisition Manager reports to the Director of Land Acquisition. You will be responsible for managing and acquiring land, handling land asset management activities for renewable energy projects and managing 3rd party brokers/agents as needed to support the RWE company goals in the South Region of the United States. This will include developing and implementing strategic land acquisition plans, negotiating land agreements, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and permits.

Role Responsibilities:

• Execute a comprehensive land acquisition strategy aligned with the organization’s renewable energy project goals
• Assist development to identify suitable land parcels for renewable energy development through market analysis and site assessments
• Contact and negotiate land acquisitions through leasing/purchase agreements and easements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions
• Collaborate with legal teams to structure land agreements that meet legal and regulatory requirements
• Conduct thorough due diligence on potential land acquisitions, including title searches, environmental assessments, and permitting requirements
• Evaluate landowner’s willingness to participate in renewable energy projects
• Build and maintain positive relationships with landowners, local communities, government authorities, and other stakeholders
• Understand relevant aspects of storage and renewable energy and successfully educate landowners in detail
• Address concerns and provide information about project plans and benefits to landowners
• Travel, as required, to facilitate and close land acquisition efforts and foster positive relationships with landowners and other stakeholders
• Identify and mitigate potential risks related to land acquisition, land use and project development
• Develop contingency plans for unforeseen challenges related to land assets
• Develop and manage budgets for land acquisition and management activities
• Monitor expenses and optimize land assets for cost-effective project development
• Manage third party land acquisition resources to achieve the land resource objectives through a combination of internal and external resources
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment
• Maintain accurate records of land agreements, permits and regulatory compliance and pre-established corporate websites
• Provide regular reports to senior management on land acquisition progress and issues

Job Requirements and Experiencs:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, environmental science or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in land acquisition, real estate, land management, or a combination thereof, with a strong background in renewables (solar, wind and battery storage) preferred
• Knowledge of land-use regulations, permitting processes and real estate law
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement
• Working knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and related land management software
• Efficiency in ALTAMPS and SAP programs preferred
• Working knowledge of land records, including title
• Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills
