Columbia University’s Lamont campus is hiring a Lamont Mechanic Trainee. The role trains alongside a Lamont Mechanic or Lamont Assistant Mechanic to perform maintenance and repair tasks with increasing independence as skills develop.
The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and physical fitness to perform demanding tasks, with overtime support during emergencies. Wage is set within the posted range for regular, full-time support staff.
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
The Lamont Mechanic Trainee works alongside a Lamont Mechanic and/or Lamont Assistant Mechanic while being trained to perform maintenance and repair functions at Lamont set forth in the Lamont Mechanic job description. Pursuant to training, the Lamont Mechanic Trainee is expected to perform tasks with minimal supervision, and work independently on tasks for which he/she has been trained.
