Job summary

Brunswick Corporation is seeking a Lamination Technician I to support the fabrication of fiberglass hulls and components. The role includes mixing resins, laminates, gel coats, and adhesives, and performing open mold and vacuum infusion processes while following detailed instructions.

The position requires physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and the coordination to operate power tools and PPE safely in a busy marine manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Sand, grind, and finish hulls, decks, and small parts.
  • Install wood cores and other components into hulls and molded parts.
  • Operate power tools and equipment safely (saws, drills, grinders, sanders, hoists).
  • Transport and stage molds, materials and finished components using forklifts or tugger vehicles.

Position Overview

Performs elementary and routine mix and lay‑up of composite materials, fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto mold surface using various hand tools. Utilization of open mold and vacuum infusion processes. Works with various resins, gelcoats, fiberglass materials, foam, and structural adhesives. Installs wood and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds. Operates a variety of power tools including but not limited to saws, drills, grinders, and overhead hoists. Locates parts by hand or by utilizing detailed blueprints, work instructions, tools, and/or fixtures. Sanding of fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds.

Essential Functions
  • Perform routine mixing and lay‑up of composite materials (fiberglass, resins, catalysts, gelcoats, foam, and adhesives) using open mold and vacuum infusion processes.
  • Prepare molds and apply fiberglass materials using hand tools in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
  • Sand, grind, and finish fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds to required specifications.
  • Install wood cores, inserts, and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and molded parts.
  • Operate power tools and equipment such as saws, drills, grinders, sanders, overhead hoists, and related tooling safely.
  • Safely operate forklifts and/or tugger vehicles to transport, stage, load, and unload molds, materials, and finished components within the facility.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching. As well as, climbing on and through stairs, molds, and staging throughout the duration of your shift.
  • Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
  • Have the flexibility to work overtime both planned and unplanned to meet company goals.
  • Must adhere to all quality standards and adhere to new standards as processes evolve.
  • Must demonstrate record of dependability and reliability with prior work or professional experience.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work well with team’s professionals.
  • Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to work in close proximity to co‑workers and work in areas with limited space.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, noisy environment across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Skills in forklift, overhead hoist, computer, fiberglass and/or gel‑coat applications preferred.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience. Marine industry experience highly preferred.
Working Conditions
  • May be required to work in a non‑air‑conditioned area.
  • Regularly required to work at heights on platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, noisy environment.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.90 to $23.65, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job‑related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
