Job summary

Caterpillar Lafayette Large Engine Center is seeking students for a summer internship starting May 2027, full-time 40 hours/week, then part-time during the academic year. Interns work with manufacturing and supply chain professionals to gain real-world experience in diverse engineering roles.

Interns will build technical abilities in Manufacturing, Facilities, Operations, Quality, and Planning, with mentoring, demonstrations, and networking opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0 (no rounding) at current institution.
  • Must have completed 30 semester hours prior to start of internship.
  • If a transfer student, must have 12 semester hours completed at a 4-year university.
  • Graduation date must be May 2027 and beyond.
  • Must be able to commute daily to the Lafayette Large Engine Center.
  • Leadership involvement in campus organizations or extracurricular activities.

About The Program

The Caterpillar Lafayette Large Engine Center (LEC) is seeking students currently enrolled in a four-year university to work side by side with manufacturing and supply chain professionals at Caterpillar. Interns are empowered with assignments that provide them with relevant work experience and significant opportunities for learning. This internship program will start in May of 2027 working full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer and then will transition to a part-time (10 to 20 hours per week) assignment during the academic school year. The position may start prior to May 2027 with the agreement of candidate and hiring manager. This position has the opportunity to continue until graduation!

Final Details

This is a part-time, temporary position.

Relocation is NOT available for this position.

All internship positions within this program are located in Lafayette, Indiana.

This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

Summary Pay Range: $25.00 - $43.00

Intern Hourly Rate: An intern's hourly rate is based on the major/degree being pursued and the number of completed academic hours achieved before the start of the internship.
