Piedmont Atlanta Hospital seeks a registered nurse with lactation specialization to assess, plan, implement and evaluate breastfeeding care for antepartum, postpartum and neonatal patients, ensuring quality education and support.

The role involves coordinating lactation services, educating families, and maintaining standards of care in line with GA licensure. 2+ years in Maternal Child health preferred; IBCLC certification preferred.

Qualifications

• RN license is required.
• 2 years of maternal-child nursing experience required.
• 2 years clinical nursing in area of specialty or 1 year education experience required.

Overview:

Assessment and evaluation of the breastfeeding couplet. This includes planning, implementing and evaluating care based on this assessment. Provides and coordinates lactation assistance, education, and support to antepartum, post-partum, and neonatal patients (inclusive of adolescents and adults) through the use of the nursing process in accordance with standard nursing practice and established nursing policies and procedures. Monitoring couplet to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems and to provide an environment that effectively supports the breastfeeding families. Providing patient/staff education and support in all aspects of lactation management.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing high quality education programs and activities that promote health of the patient and community through the life cycle, and individual development of the staff according to learning needs identified through a variety of sources to facilitate patient care.

Qualifications:

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required
• Bachelor's Degree of Nursing Preferred
• Graduate of a School of Nursing Required

Work Experience

• 2 years of clinical nursing in area of specialty or one year of education experience Required
• 2 years experience in Maternal Child area Required

Licenses and Certifications

• RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure Required
• IBCLC - International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Preferred or
• certification as a breast feeding counselor Preferred
• Current GA RN License Required

Additional Licenses and Certifications

• International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC) Breastfeeding Certification Required
• BLS Certification Required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification Required
