Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa, FL seeks a Registered Nurse with Lactation Counselor certification to join our team on a PRN basis. You will support breastfeeding mothers, provide education, and coordinate care within a collaborative hospital setting.

This role emphasizes triage, patient communication, and applying advanced lactation knowledge to promote safe, evidence-based breastfeeding outcomes. BLS, RN license, and CLC are required; Spanish language skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Communicates effectively with patients and families.
• Triage care based on patient needs and clinical presentation.
• Demonstrates strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Applies advanced lactation knowledge to care for mother–baby pairs.
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to use interpreter services appropriately when needed.
• Spanish language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports other consultants as needed.
• Participates in community education opportunities regarding breastfeeding, research projects, speaking engagements, and other company committees.
• Keeps supplies clean and orderly according to policy and reports any needed supplies or educational materials to the supervisor.
• Greets all patients in a friendly, professional manner.

• Maternity nursing and Newborn nursing knowledge [Preferred]
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing [Required]
• Ability to use Interpreter service appropriately [Required]
• Additional languages preferred, especially Spanish [Preferred]

Education:

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 1+ acute care hospital [Preferred]
• 2+ maternity or newborn experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) [Required]
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Preferred]
• Breastfeeding Counselor (CBC) [Preferred]
