Job summary

Hoffman Structures seeks a versatile construction worker for field tasks on our projects, often in a utility capacity, switching between duties as demands require. You will measure distances, signal operators, level earth, pour and finish concrete, mix concrete, erect scaffolding, and handle surfaces for finishing.

The role involves outdoor work, collaboration with a team, and adherence to safety protocols. Physical endurance and the ability to read blueprints and tape measures are essential.

Responsibilities

• Measure distances from grade stakes, drive stakes, and stretch a line.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to align, move, and adjust machinery.
• Level earth to grade specifications using hand tools.
• Pour and finish concrete in walls, columns, and slabs and prepare surfaces.
• Mix concrete using portable mixer.
• Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Apply coatings or paints to surfaces as needed.
• Spray materials to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
• Grind, sand, or polish concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood surfaces.
• Demolish buildings, dismantle forms, or remove projections from concrete.
• Work is usually performed with other workers.
• Must be able to pass a Hoffman drug test.

WORK DESCIRPTION

Performs any combination of the following duties on construction projects, usually working in utility capacity, by transferring from one task to another where demands require worker with varied experience and ability to work without close supervision:

• Measure distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.
• Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
• Levels earth to fine grade specifications, using pick and shovel.
• Pour concrete in walls, columns, and slabs with bucket, pump, or tailgate from truck; muck (rake) fresh concrete for finishers.
• Mixes concrete, using portable mixer.
• Erect scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Mops, brushes, or spreads paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces for protection.
• Sprays materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco through hose to clean, coat, or seal surfaces.
• Grinds, sands, or polishes surfaces, such as concrete, marble, terrazzo, or wood flooring, using abrasive tools or machines.
• Performs variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as demolishing buildings, sawing lumber, dismantling forms, removing projections from concrete.
• Work is usually performed with other workers.

Must be able to pass a Hoffman drug test.
