VCI Construction, LLC is seeking a Laborer III for our Telecom Underground team in California. This field role involves loading, hauling, excavating, and operating specialized equipment to install and maintain underground telecom cables.

You will support supervisors, help manage materials, and ensure work aligns with project specs and safety standards. The ideal candidate has a valid CDL, 3–5 years in underground telecom construction, and the ability to read blueprints.

Formación

• Possess a valid CDL license and be 18 years or older.
• Authorization to work in the United States for the company.
• High school diploma, GED or relevant work experience.
• 3–5 years’ underground telecom construction or related field experience.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, plans and technical specs.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Willingness to work overtime, weekends and extended hours as needed.
• Safety‑first mindset and ability to work in all weather conditions.

Responsabilidades

• Perform skilled construction tasks such as loading, delivering, excavating and operating advanced equipment for underground projects.
• Install and maintain complex underground telecom cable with precision to project specs.
• Operate, troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on construction equipment.
• Assist supervisors with project plans, material management and task prioritization.
• Support small workgroups to meet project goals on time while following safety standards.
• Complete and verify detailed production reports for accurate project records.
• Assist with site restoration including final grading and landscaping.
• Identify and address potential safety and operational issues proactively.
• Train and mentor Level I and II laborers to improve skills and knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you'll do

What you'll need

• Possess a valid CDL license

• Advanced knowledge of construction equipment operation and maintenance

• Ability to work safely in all weather conditions

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work alone in remote locations and in confined spaces with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
