About the Job

We're seeking a reliable and safety-focused Laborer / Serviceman to support maintenance and production activities across our plant. This entry-level role is critical to keeping operations running efficiently through hands‑on work, cleanup, and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

• Safety Compliance: Follow all safety rules, wear PPE, and report equipment or safety concerns.
• Physical Tasks: Perform trenching, digging, backfilling, shoveling, sweeping, and cleanup work.
• Facility Support: Assist with maintenance work, concrete form building, painting, and general housekeeping.
• Equipment Maintenance: Lubricate and oil equipment; support maintenance teams and respond to callouts.
• Training & Participation: Attend meetings and training sessions. Support other classifications and plant outage work.
• Additional Duties: Complete any tasks assigned by management to support plant operations.

Qualifications

• Educational and Licensing Requirements: A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience: Four years of general plant experience or six years of cement plant experience if joining from outside the company.
• Skills: Proficiency in control systems and computer applications; strong communication skills; mechanical aptitude and ability to read diagrams; mathematical ability related to production measurements; strong decision‑making and safety awareness.

Working Conditions

• Safety First: Must comply with all safety standards and always wear appropriate PPE.
• Dynamic Environment: Work in outdoor and indoor environments, with exposure to physical labor and harsh conditions (extreme heat, humidity, extreme cold, noise, dust).
• Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, 20 lbs constantly), climbing, standing, shoveling, walking, pushing, pulling, operating tools and mobile equipment to a significant degree in physically intense settings. Must be physically able to perform all essential job functions, including verbal communication over phone and radio, to hear verbal commands and audible alarms in order to safely operate around large mobile equipment and automatic conveyor belt systems. Must pass a physical exam (back x‑ray, vision test, hearing test, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test, drug/alcohol screen).
• Work Schedule: Employees are expected to work varying shifts as needed, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Work Location: This position is required to be performed in person at the assigned worksite. Remote work is not available for this role.
