Job summary

Maine Drilling & Blasting Inc. is hiring entry-level construction laborers to join a majority employee-owned team. You will perform outdoor fieldwork, learn blasting safety, and assist with daily site tasks under supervisors.

This role requires safety-minded individuals who can travel out of town and work in varying weather conditions. Starting pay ranges from $18 to $20 per hour with travel stipends. Benefits include ESOP, 401(k), health, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, plus

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety procedures and policies.
• Demonstrate physical agility and capability to lift up to 100 lbs.
• Learn safety aspects of working around explosives and construction sites.
• Work with and around blasting equipment as directed by Supervisors/Foremen.
• Load and unload materials and assist in site setup and cleanup.
• Attend meetings and participate in daily safety briefings.

Starting Pay: $18 - $20/per hour, plus stipends for travel!

Do you have experience in construction? Do you want to learn the drilling and blasting industry with a stable, growing, majority employee-owned company? If you answered YES to these questions, then we want to meet you! Must be able to perform job specific instruction provided by Superintendents, Blasting Supervisor or Drill Operators. Individuals must be safety-minded and able to work well outdoors in varying weather environments. Out of town/state travel and overtime may be required.

Responsibilities:

• Must adhere to Company Safety procedures and policies
• Physical agility
• Submit the following records to Blaster/Foreman on a Weekly basis: Accurate and Signed Time Card
• Ability to quickly learn safety aspects of working construction sites and working around explosives
• Ability to take direction and perform construction laboring activities
• Ability to work unsupervised occasionally
• Pump blast holes dry with water pump
• Load and unload explosives from truck
• Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes
• Maintain clean and organize job site
• Other duties as assigned
• Attend all meetings
• Participate in monthly Foreman, periodic safety and job meetings as needed
• Participate in daily heads up safety meetings

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform essential functions of the position
Position requires proficiency to work at a steady pace on uneven and loose surfaces outside
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally, 5% of time
Ability to lift 50lbs, 50% of the time
Stooping and bending 60 – 70% of the time

Qualifications

Valid Drivers License with good driving record and own transportation (out of town/state travel required)
Must successfully pass ATF screenings
Experience with construction labor and heavy equipment preferred
Ability to learn and develop skills to later perform higher level task
