Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift (2:30 PM–12:00 AM) after training period.
  • Experience with hand and power tools; comfortable with desktops and Windows apps.
  • Willingness to outdoors and to take direction; provide customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Laborer in the E3 facilities group.
  • Assist with reconfiguration, upkeep, and maintenance of RF testing and HVAC systems.
  • Perform general labor duties in industrial environments.
  • Coordinate with Test Project Engineers’ aircraft, facility use, and SE needs.
  • Deliver GSE to the Fleet Readiness Center for maintenance; purge and prep aircraft as needed.
  • Operate government equipment such as forklift, lift, tug, and other tools.
  • Assist with crane rigging and general facilities maintenance.

The Position:

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Laborer (Facilities)-Junior to support Electromagnetic Environmental Effects. The hourly range of this position is $17.37 - $20.29/hour and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.

Position Background:

The Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test (IBST) Department’s E3 facility is the center of excellence in aircraft E3 Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation. Our state-of-the-art laboratories specializes in a variety of capabilities, ranging from box level to complete system level testing. The E3 vision is to be dedicated to improving current and future DoD Test & Evaluation capabilities; in simulation of operational and threat environments, high-energy physics and directed energy weapons by empowering the workforce to approach solutions from outside of the box. With IBST at the helm, we’re not just preparing for the future but shaping it.

A typical day as a Laborer (Facilities)-Junior may include:
  • Serves as a Laborer in the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3), NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV, Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) facilities group
  • Assists with the reconfiguration, upkeep, and maintenance of RF testing systems and HVAC systems
  • Performs general laborer duties as assigned in industrial environments
  • Assists with coordinating, scheduling, and providing for Test Project Engineers’ aircraft, facility use, and Support Equipment (SE) needs
  • Obtains tasking from a supervisor
  • Delivers GSE to the Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) for preventative or unscheduled maintenance
  • Schedules and obtains GSE from FRC for project supportMaintains fueling ground support equipment
  • Assists in aircraft fueling operations
  • Purges aircraft
  • Connects and operates GSE carts for aircraft operation
  • Operates government equipment such as forklift, man lift, tug, and other equipment
  • Assists with crane rigging
  • Conducts facilities maintenance
Must-haves:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of relevant work experience
  • The ability to work 2nd shift (2:30 PM to 12:00 AM) after completing a mandatory day shift training period (3-month estimate)
  • Experience working with hand and power tools
  • Experience working with desktop computers and windows applications
  • The ability to proactively seek out work
  • Willingness to work outdoors in the heat and cold environment
  • Willingness to take direction and provide superior customer service
  • Willingness to work overtime as scheduling requires
  • Excellent time management skills and proven dependability
  • Strong attention to detail during tasking

  • Current clearance required upon onboarding: DoD Secret Clearance
  • Additional Accesses: The ability to obtain and maintain the DoD security clearance eligibility and/or additional security access requirements necessary to perform the duties of the position, as required by the contract
Desired Skills:
  • Electronic cable manufacturing and general fabrication skills
  • Professional background in electronics or electronics repair
  • Experience working around aircraft
  • Experience conducting general building maintenance

Physical Environment and Working Conditions:

The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in the field (outside 50% of the time), on site versus in an office. The physical environment also requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for part of the day.

The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and building on site or near the work site. On rare occasions, overnight travel may be required.

The employee is required to stand, walk and/or move throughout the workday, often bending over and lifting items up to approximately 50 lbs. Operation of machinery to assist in the movement of heavy objects, such as forklifts and dollies, may be required. This position may also require driving government vehicles.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.
