Job summary

Synagro Technologies, Inc. is seeking a general laborer to perform truck scaling, site cleaning, and light maintenance while operating a front end loader.

The role requires adherence to safety policies and regulatory requirements to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective site operations. Responsibilities include equipment checks, assisting with material processing for hauling, and communicating any issues to supervisors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to operate front end loader and perform equipment maintenance as needed.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment maintenance to keep the process running; contact on-call mechanic as needed.
• Assist with processing of material safely and timely for hauling.
• Inform supervisor of major problems or shutdowns lasting >1 hour.
• Complete equipment checks at start of shift and fill necessary forms.
• Perform general housekeeping tasks to ensure safe, clean operations.
• Enforce safety procedures and maintain clean work areas.
• Participate in and complete training programs within allotted time.

JOB SUMMARY
General Labor duties include truck scaling, site cleaning, light maintenance, able to operate front end loader. Adhere to all applicable regulations to provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the site to meet processing (contact), permit, and other applicable requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Perform equipment maintenance according to abilities, as required to keep the process running. Contact the on-call mechanic when necessary
• 2. Assist with the processing of material in a safe, effective timely manner for hauling to appropriate location and in compliance with all company, federal, state and local regulation/policies
• 3. Communicate and inform supervisor of all major problems, or if for any reason the process is shut down for more than 1 hour
• 4. Prepare and complete equipment checks at the start of every shift and complete all necessary forms
• 5. Perform any general work or other assignments necessary to ensure the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the site to include sweeping, shoveling, and other housekeeping activities
• 6. Enforce and maintain standard safety procedures and maintain a clean work area at all times
• 7. Participate and complete training programs within the time frame allotted

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• 1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
• 2. Communication skills – verbal and written
• 3. Ability to perform basic math
• 4. Ability to work varying shifts, overtime hours and/or weekend duties
• 5. Ability to follow instructions
• 6. Thorough knowledge and understanding of occupational hazards connected with machine shop and general site practices with emphasis on the necessity of safety policy compliance
• 7. Ability to receive, comprehend and utilize required training from OSHA and Company including but not limited to the following: First aid and CPR, Hazcom, Hearing conservation, Confined space entry and rescue , Lock out/Tag out

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES

• 1. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with strong mechanical aptitude required

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• 1. Talking, Hearing, Seeing, Walking, Sitting, Standing, Pushing, Pulling, and Lifting up to 100 lbs
• 2. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and out
• 3. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
• 4. The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to bio-solids.

Starting Salary: $18.79 per hour
