Job description

Under direct supervision, performs physical, unskilled tasks associated with Collections System operations and maintenance.

Responsibilities include:

1. Operating passenger cars and/or light trucks.
2. Trimming trees and bushes.
3. Installing and operating portable pumps, including tear-down and cleanup.
4. Loading and unloading equipment, materials, and supplies weighing 10 lbs. to 100 lbs.
5. Lifting heavy objects (45 lbs. to 100 lbs.) from the ground to an elevation of 4'8".
6. Climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
7. Performing corrective and preventive maintenance, such as testing alarms and level control devices, exercising valves and gates, cleaning wet wells, and housekeeping duties.
8. Preparing and maintaining records, reports, log books, and other related data.
9. Assisting vendors or contractors in locating work sites.
10. Responding to alarms and providing troubleshooting analysis.
11. Performing other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
12. Serving as a member of the MSD Emergency Response Team as directed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of proper use of basic hand tools.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. from ground to 4'8" and carry up to 100 lbs. for 200 feet.
• Ability to work under adverse conditions, including inclement weather, contact with raw sewage, in pipes, on creek banks, and irregular surfaces.
• Ability to work with maintenance and operations staff.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Ability to be trained in first aid.
• Willingness to work various shifts and mandatory overtime.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must pass the CAPS test. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have a reliable means of contact during off-duty hours. Must demonstrate safe work and driving habits.
