Job summary

Matrix Service is seeking a helper to take direction from skilled workers or foremen and assist crews in construction activities. You will help with material storage, distribution, and tool handling while maintaining safety standards on site.

Ideal candidates bring over three years of maintenance/turnaround/construction experience and familiarity with basic hand tools; passing the Craft Helper test and pre-employment screenings is required.

Qualifications

• Must have over three years of maintenance/turnaround/construction or mechanical experience.
• Must be able to pass Craft Helper proficiency testing at or above 70%, pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Take direction from a skilled worker or foreman to assist crew in construction duties.
• Furnish tools and materials for others in the crew.
• Work with various hand tools as required.
• Perform fire-watch, bottle-watch or hole-watch duties as assigned.
• Operate limited types of equipment as needed.

Typical Duties

• To work well with supervision.
• Furnish tools and materials for others in their crew.
• Work with various hand tools.
• Fire‑watch, Bottle‑watch or Hole‑watch duties.
• Operate limited types of equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of roles and responsibilities of the craft being supported.
• Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
• Perform all other job related duties as requested by supervision.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

Must have over three (3) years of maintenance/turnaround/construction/ or mechanical experience and knowledge of basic hand tools. Must be able to pass Craft Helper proficiency testing at or above 70%. Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug & alcohol screen and if hired, will be subject to random drug & alcohol testing during the course of employment. Must pass a pre‑employment criminal background check.

Physical Requirements

• Stand or walk for long periods.
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
• Lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds.
• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment.
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
