Job summary

Austin Industrial is seeking capable laborers to perform a range of manual tasks in an industrial environment under supervision. The role requires the ability to lift, move heavy objects, blend or patch materials, and maintain a clean, safe site daily.

Applicants should have at least 6 months of industrial experience, a valid driver's license, and a TWIC card. This full-time position trains on the job and supports construction and maintenance work across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Experience – 6+ months experience in an Industrial setting preferred.
• Certification/License - Valid Driver's License and TWIC Card.
• Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Will perform various labor-intensive tasks in an industrial setting under the direction of a supervisor or foreman.May operate a variety of hand and power tools. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials. May assist other craft workers. Other duties may be assigned.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
• Shovel bituminous concrete (asphalt) or other material into construction area.
• Assist in patching asphalt with hot and cold mix. Excavate and fills trenches and ditches.
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
• Material handling and storage.
• Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman orSafety personnel.
• Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in an industrial setting.
• Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Adjust and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Mow and trim lawns and shrubbery, using mowers and hand and power trimmers, and clear debris from grounds.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Other duties as assigned.
