Job summary

Adams-Construction-Company is seeking a Laborer to perform manual and semiskilled tasks around an asphalt plant under the supervision of a plant superintendent.

Responsibilities include plant maintenance and upkeep, assisting with hot mix production, pulling material samples for quality control, and following all safety regulations while wearing PPE. Candidates must be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends and pass pre-employment drug testing.

Job description

Under general supervision of a plant superintendent, the Laborer performs a variety of manual or semiskilled tasks related to cleanup and grounds maintenance in and around asphalt plant.

RESPONSIBILITES

• Plant Maintenance & Upkeep : Perform general maintenance on asphalt plant machinery, including greasing, adjusting equipment, and cleaning the plant area, conveyors, and silos.
• Production Support : Assist with the production of hot mix asphalt and pulling material samples for quality control.
• Safety Compliance : Adhere to all company safety regulations and procedures, wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Uses tools such as sledge hammer, wrenches, screwdrivers, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill, sand blaster, pipe wrench, hand shovel.
• Must be physically capable of climbing stairs/ladders at extended heights to reach top of plant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
• The ability to use one's abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without "giving out" or fatiguing
• The ability to quickly move the arms or legs
• The ability to exert one's self physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath
• Able to understand and follow verbal and or written directions paying attention to detail
• Ability to lift and carry heavy loads of up to 50 pounds or more on a daily basis

QUALIFICATIONS

• Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test as well as random tests if selected during employment.
