Job summary

Western Engineering Contractors, Inc. is seeking a qualified Laborer for its Paving Division for full-time employment in the greater Sacramento area.

The laborer will perform raking and shoveling for asphalt paving, and assist with grading and underground utilities as part of a construction crew. Preferred candidates have a high school diploma and 3–5+ years of asphalt paving experience; knowledge of OSHA regulations and plan reading is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 or more years of construction experience with a focus on asphalt paving.
• Grading and underground utilities experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

General Summary

Western Engineering Contractors Inc. is seeking a qualified Laborer for our Paving Division for full‑time employment. Western Engineering is a local contractor based in Loomis that performs work in the greater Sacramento area and surrounding foothills. With more than 40 years of industry experience, Western Engineering is a reputable company.

Essential Functions

Performs a combination of tasks, usually working in a utility capacity, as a member of a construction crew on a project consisting primarily of raking and shoveling for asphalt paving operations. Laborer duties may also include tasks associated with grading, underground utilities, and other miscellaneous construction work.

Education Requirements

High school diploma preferable.

Experience Requirements

3 to 5 or more years of construction experience with a focus on asphalt paving. Grading and underground utilities experience is a plus.

Desired Knowledge and/or Skills

• Dependable, quality‑oriented, self‑motivated, and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Competent with laser set‑up and use (senior level‑grading).
• Some familiarity with plan and stake reading (grading and underground utilities).
