Job summary

Merchantslandscape in Rancho Cucamonga, CA is seeking a landscape maintenance worker to perform groundkeeping, mowing, edging, pruning, planting, and equipment care.

You will work outdoors, handle mulch, water, and bed edging, and follow safety rules while assisting with loading and unloading trucks as needed.

Responsibilities

• You would be responsible for repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and walking for at least two hours at a time.
• Operate powered equipment such as mowers, blowers, weed-eaters with PPE and perform general landscape tasks.
• Use basic hand tools like shovels, rakes, brooms, wheelbarrows to accomplish tasks.
• Perform maintenance on properties: mow turf, edge grass, blow leaves, prune shrubs, pull weeds, clean site.
• Plantings and flower installation: prep soil, plant material, mulch, water, edge beds.
• Maintain equipment: wash, change blades/oil, clean air filters, grease machines.

Job description

You'd be responsible for:

• Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and walking at least two hours at a time.
• Must be able to operate powered equipment such as mowers, blowers, weed-eater and perform general landscape tasks with all necessary personal protective equipment
• Usage of basic hand tools to accomplish the work such as shovels, rakes, brooms, wheelbarrows.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
• Comply with company General Conduct and Safety Rules.
• Help load and unload trucks, or any other vehicles as assigned.

Performing maintenance on properties:

• Mow turf using various mowers
• Edge grass at curbs and walkways
• Blow leaves and clippings
• Prune shrubs/hedges, using mechanical as well as hand equipment as needed to clear debris (lifting up to 50 to 75 lbs)
• Pull weeds and be able to properly bend down and stand up safely on slopes (if slopes apply)
• Clean site and watch for trash, limbs, and rocks

Plantings and Flower Installation:

• Prep soil uniformly for flower or groundcover installation
• Plant material properly considering depth, size, placement, spacing and able to properly bend and stoop.
• Apply mulch appropriately for type of material
• Water material correctly
• Edge beds or establish new bed edges

Performing maintenance on equipment:

• Wash equipment and truck
• Change equipment blades and oil
• Clean air filters
• Grease machines
